Note from the President
Thank you so much for placing trust in me by selecting me as your next club President. I am so excited to represent the GFWC Woman’s Club of Ocoee for the next two years. I have served for more than 13 years in this club and I feel that I am ready to lead our club as we grow and look for opportunities to work smarter, not harder. A wise person once told me, that you can make a difference if you “Believe”. That person believed in me 33 years ago and I am honored to “Believe in our club and you”. As many of you know, I am a very ambitious person and will set high expectations of each of our club members. I will ask you to help serve, have fun and hope that you will feel accomplished at the end of our first year. I had the opportunity to attend the GFWC Convention in April, where I saw our Federated Sisters work towards the 1895 Society Project, Artful Bra Project, support Hacienda and Canine Companions Projects. I now better understand why we do what we do! Each of these projects need us and I need you. I look forward to bringing to our Club the President's Project, "Growing Membership" over the next two years, as well as my club project Restoring Our Clubhouse, "ROC". One of my projects is to increase the monies the Club donated to the media Centers in the Elementary Schools in Ocoee at our Creative Expressions event held in the spring each year. I Hope to Inspire Each of You! My motto is Inspire. I hope to inspire you to work hard and raise monies for the charities our club selects in the West Orange Community. At the Installation of Officers, I honored each of the incoming Board Members with a lapel pin that states, "Inspire, Believe, Achieve, Imagine". I look forward to working with these ladies and appreciate their “Willingness to Serve”! I anticipate change in many things as my Presidency begins. I ask that you keep an open mind to new ideas, processes and procedures. I will challenge each of you to accept change in the betterment of the club. Please take time to read through the planning calendar in this newsletter as this will guide you and best serve you in understanding the upcoming events for the club year. The General Business Meetings will include a “Friend to Friend” Social time from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7:00 p.m. promptly and ending at 8:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served during our “Friend to Friend” Social time. Let’s take time to get to know one another. Friends can accomplish more when working “together”. My main objective over the next two years it to bring awareness of our club to the City of Ocoee. Educate them that we are a strong leader and do make a difference in our community. I am accessible to each of you via e-mail: owcteresa@aol.com or cell 407-579-7977. Inspired, Teresa Brenner-Lemons President
